Straight Razor Honing Service

SKU: Straight Razor Sharpening/Honing Service Category: Tags: , , , ,

If you have a razor that you use regularly chances are it’s not as sharp as it was when you got it. Once I get your razor I’ll examine it using a jeweler’s loop and see exactly what work the edge needs. Generally, I start with a 1,000 grit whetstone and gradually increase all the way up to 12,000 grit . Afterwards, I follow this up by stropping it on linen, chromium oxide, and finally leather. This will leave you with an edge that feels smooth and comfortable to shave with. If the edge has chips or  is smiling or frowning I may need to adjust the price as those defects take longer to repair.

If it’s been a while since your razor’s last hone, it may not need the full treatment. If it just needs a quick refresh, I can take care of that, too.

If you have any questions please contact me! Send me lots of close-up pictures and we can discuss exactly what needs to be done and how much it’ll cost.
