Rusty Razors

Rustic Restoration Service

SKU: Rustic Razor Restoration Service Category: Tags: , , , , ,

Just pick up a great score at an antique store? Inherit grandpa’s old straight or safety razor? This service is great for sentimental razors or razors you want to keep looking as original as possible.

Here’s what I’ll do:

  • Un-pin the scales and if they’re in good shape clean them up as much as possible and polish them. If they’re in rough shape, I can create custom scales out of a variety of materials to your exact specifications for an extra cost.
  • Remove rust and tarnish from the razor. The end result will vary depending on how rough the condition of your razor initially is and the artistic license we agree on with strategically leaving patina behind.
  • Re-pin the whole thing using brass pins and washers.
  • Hone the razor.

Here’s what I won’t do:

  • Remove pitting and other cosmetic defects that don’t affect the quality of the shave the razor gives you.
  • The end result is a clean, polished razor that still retains its distinct markings that tell the story of its age.

Questions? Just ask! Send me lots of detailed pictures of your item and we can discuss exactly what needs to be done and how much it’ll cost.
